IOC nullifies Nigerian Olympic Committee elections

The International Olympic Commitee (IOC) has invalidated the last Thursday's Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) elections which saw former Minister of Sports, Engr Sanni Ndanusa, made president.

The IOC reportedly sent a letter to the NOC President and Secretary-General of NOC, Habu Gumel and Olabanji Oladapo saying they did not recognise the election because it had taken place without the "legitimate authorities of the NOC".

It is understood the IOC, which has referred the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, has ordered a fresh election to be held this Thursday.

In the original election Ndanusa was voted president by all the 23 delegates in attendance.
