ESPN lines up replacement for Lynne Frank

Sports broadcaster ESPN is preparing to announce the appointment of Ross Hair, from Sony Pictures Television, as Lynne Frank's replacement as head of operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa, according to UK newspaper the Independent.

The news brings to a close the broadcaster's five month search to replace Frank, who departed citing personal reasons in April this year.

Hair was most recently executive vice-president of international networks for Sony Pictures Television in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has previously worked in a capacity at ESPN, as director of strategic planning at ESPN Star Sports, the joint venture between Disney and News Corp in Asia.

Frank, a highly respected executive who led ESPN's charge into the UK, left the Disney-owned group to return to the US after 17 years in London. She had been at ESPN for five years during which time she oversaw the acquisition of websites Cricinfo.com and Scrum.com and oversaw the launch of the ESPN channel in the UK.
