The OneAsia golf tour has excluded the Shandong Gold Cup tournament from its 2010 calendar and postponed it until further notice.

The event was scheduled to take place at the Guyun Lake International Golf Club in the Eastern China province of Shandong from October 21 to 24 and offer $1 million in prize money.

“There have been some specific concerns raised about scheduling and timing of the Shandong Gold Cup from a local government and venue perspective,” a tour spokesperson told news agency Reuters.

“As we would like to ensure that the quality of OneAsia events, and work with our sponsors to enhance these events, we have decided to postpone the tournament till further notice.”

The OneAsia 2010 tour will now have 10 tournaments in China, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia – twice as much as last year, when it was created as an alternative to the Asian Tour in a drive by the Australian Professional Golfer’s Association with the support of the Chinese and South Korean governing bodies.
