MLB hero Roger Clemens faces lying charges

Major League Baseball icon Roger Clemens has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly lying to Congress about using steroids.

As a result, the 48 year-old former New York Yankees pitcher faces charges of obstruction of Congress, making false statements and perjury.

The indictment comes about after Clemens' former trainer Brian McNamee testified that he injected Clemens 20 times with steroids and HGH.

Clemens, whose illustrious career saw him win the World Series with the Yankees in 1999 and 2000, has always denied drug use and continues to do so: “I have never used steroids, human growth hormone, or any other type of illegal performance-enhancing drugs. I think these types of drugs should play no role in athletics at any level.”
