Blackburn confirms interest from Indian entrepreneur

English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers has confirmed that it is in serious talks with a financial services company which wants to take over the club.

If successful, Western Gulf Advisory (a Swiss-Bahraini enterprise which manages investments on behalf of an Indian entrepreneur called Ahsan Ali Syed) says it will release £80 million to £100 million in funds for the purchase of players over the next five years.

The English Premier League has introduced strict new rules this season covering anyone attempting a takeover. However Syed insists he has sufficient liquidity to buy the club.

Syed is a fan of current manager Sam Allardyce and says: "He has done a fantastic job for the club with constrained resources, but I am sure that if he is given a free hand has the potential to make wonders. I am not investing to make a return in two years and walk away."
