Carling title sponsors football’s Nations Cup

Beer brand Carling will title sponsor the four-team football tournament involving Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland, organisers announced yesterday.

All matches in next year’s inaugural tournament will be played at the new Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The biennial tournament will then move to be played in the other competing nations in future years.

Last month Carling signed a four-year deal worth £2 million to sponsor the Scottish Football Association and in February signed a three-year deal to become the official beer of Scottish Rugby and Murrayfield Stadium.

Football Association of Ireland chief executive John Delaney said he was “delighted” to have secured Carling as the title sponsor.

Each side in the 2011 Carling Four Nations has one fixture on February 8 or 9 and then two games in the week commencing Monday May 23.
