Bretos announced on his Twitter page that ESPN will show Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City (Saturday, 7:30am ET) and Manchester United versus Newcastle United (Monday, 2:45pm ET).
“[I am] thrilled I will be anchoring the ESPN studio coverage of the opening weekend of the EPL,” he said. “Check me out Saturday morning and Monday afternoon.”
Details of any deal are unknown and no official release has been made by either network, however Fox said on Tuesday it was “working to finalise details of a sub-license for distribution of additional matches.”
Fox acquired the English Premier League rights across the US and Latin America in late 2009. ESPN sublicensed 48 matches from Fox in the 2009-10 season.
