Investec extends with Tri Nations, adds Super 15

Bank and asset manager Investec extended its sponsorship of the Tri Nations in New Zealand for a further five years and additionally took the New Zealand naming rights for SANZAR’s domestic rugby competition, the expanded Super Rugby 15 competition, from 2011.

Investec replaces Rebel Sport as title sponsor of the Super Rugby competition. The sponsorships were brokered by the Essentially sports marketing agency.

“We’re delighted to be extending our relationship with Investec. They are an important supporter of rugby worldwide and it has been great to be able to build on our initial two-year partnership of the Investec Tri Nations. With this investment they become one of our most important partners, and it’s exciting to be moving forward with them,” said NZRU acting chief executive Neil Sorensen.

Investec Head of Marketing in South Africa Janet Larsen added: “As rugby is aligned with our specialist banking focus, we intend to capitalise on this unique opportunity presented by the Super Rugby and Tri Nations tournaments to enhance our brand presence in our major markets in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia.”

Investec was established in 1974 and delivers products and services to its clients in six core areas of activity: Asset Management, Private Wealth, Property Activities, Private Banking, Capital Markets and Investment Banking.
