F1 is coming to Texas

Formula One has agreed a deal with US race promoters Full Throttle Productions for the Texas state capital Austin to host a race from 2012 to 2021.

The race will take place on a specially-built track. Formula One last held a US race in 2007 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana.

"For the first time in the history of F1 in the US, a world-class facility will host the event," said Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, as reported by the BBC.

"This will be the first time a facility is constructed from the ground up specifically for F1 in the US."
