UK newspaper The Guardian said a leaked email to then-IPL commissioner Lalit Modi from Yorkshires chief executive, Stewart Regan, said: "One stumbling block in the UK is the Sky contract – essentially we need to know if there is a get-out."
The Guardian reports that a “broadcast industry insider” said an attempt to franchise the IPL to the UK was "potentially damaging to the entire ecosystem" of the sport, and holders of existing broadcast contracts "do not want to see their value washed away".
