The BBC reports that David Beckham is to hand over the bid team's 1,752-page bid book to FIFA today. The book has travelled by plane to Switzerland, along with Beckham and three teenagers, Nothemba Bambiso, from South Africa, Eddie Afekafe from Manchester and Kadra Ege from London, who will jointly hand the book to FIFA. The involvement of the teenagers echoes London's successful bid for the 2012 Olympics, when a 14-year-old basketball player from the city, helped present its case to host the Games.
The BBC says that a European country is expected to get the 2018 tournament with England's rivals being Russia and joint bids from Spain and Portugal and from Holland and Belgium. The other bidding nations are Australia, the United States, Qatar, South Korea and Japan.
