Montreal set to host 19th MLS team

Commissioner Don Garber is hopeful that Montreal will become the 19th Major League Soccer franchise.

The league currently comprises 16 franchises and will add two expansions for the 2011 season, in Portland and Vancouver.

“We’re confident that we’ll be able to announce a 19th team shortly, and our hope is that 19th team will be in Montreal,” Garber told Associated Press.

The MLS commissioner also revealed the league is looking to include one or two teams from the south-east, most likely in Atlanta and South Florida.
