Tougher tests for Premier League club owners

The English Premier League plans to toughen its “fit and proper persons” test for prospective club owners.

UK newspaper The Times reports that chairmen and chief executives of the 20 clubs discussed changes to the test for would-be owners in a meeting in London yesterday.

One of the proposed new rules would require potential owners to provide proof of funding and future financial information, and to meet league representatives face-to-face before buying a club.
