French Open gets 3D broadcast

This year's French Open will be broadcast live in 3D to retail venues and to French viewers under a deal announced yesterday between consumer electronics giant Panasonic, pay-television operator Orange and Eurosport.

Eurosport will broadcast 3D coverage to over 3,000 retail venues in over 28 territories and subscribers to Orange's IPTV platform in France will be able to watch 3D coverage of the event on a dedicated channel.

The 2010 French Open takes place at Roland Garros on May 23 to June 6 this year.

A 3D documentary about the tournament will also be produced under the deal.
