Premier League licensees outside the UK will be offered the chance to run the service as full channel or pick and choose among from an offering that includes regular news shows, magazine programming and archive matches.
“For some time now we have been aware that many licensees and prospective licensees do not want to produce their own programming or channels,” said Phil Lines, director of media operations and international broadcasting for the Premier League. “This has become particularly true with Telephony companies and platform operators entering the entertainment market.”
“So it was a natural step to offer our licensees more programming and a service that, if they wish, can be transmitted as a complete channel.”
IMG, which has been handling production and distribution for Premier League’s international programming since 1997, will also represent the Premier League archive for a further three years.
