Ravensbeck invests in Ultimate Rugby Sevens

Ultimate Rugby Sevens, the independent global promoter for the sport, has signed an investment deal with Ravensbeck, the global media investment and management firm owned and run by two former Disney TV executives.

The deal will see the Ravensbeck team, under former Disney International President David Hulbert, work strategically and operationally to help build the existing online networking business and grow the global portfolio of rugby sevens media rights.

“I have ambitious plans for Ultimate Rugby Sevens, as we move to further secure our position as the leading independent promoter for Rugby Sevens globally,” said Tim Lacey, founder and CEO of Ultimate Rugby Sevens.

“UR7s has experienced phenomenal growth and success over its first year of operation. To accelerate this growth to the next stage and beyond, we want a partner with serious international media experience. I am confident that Ravensbeck is a perfect fit for Ultimate Rugby Sevens as we enter the next phase of our development.”

Rugby sevens will make its debut at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games following a decision to include the sport by the International Olympic Committee late last year.
