ESPN tops sport innovation list

Sports network ESPN was voted the most innovative sports company in the world by US business magazine FastCompany.

The magazine highlighted ESPN’s position as “the most powerful brand in sports media” and its innovation over the past year, which has included acquiring live English Premier League rights in the UK and opening an ESPN Innovation Lab outside Orlando to develop new broadcast technology.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) was voted second for its “transformation” of cricket which is “tailored to today's short attention spans and entertainment infrastructure”.

Sportsvision, the US-based provider of enhancements for sports television, was voted third, MLB Advanced Media fourth and entertainment giant AEG was placed fifth.
