STATS becomes official MLB data distributor

Sports technology, information and content provider STATS has agreed a multi-year partnership to be the official real-time data licensor for MLB Advanced Media, the interactive media and internet company of Major League Baseball.

Under the deal STATS will distribute real-time and post-game information to media outlets around the world covering web, mobile, broadcast, iTV and print. The agreement covers both the Major League Baseball calendar of games and affiliated leagues including Triple-A, Double-A, Single-A, Rookie League, Arizona Fall League and the Caribbean Winter Leagues.

“Every day thousands of pitches are thrown across professional baseball and each one generates dozens of individual data points that we track in real time, making it imperative to partner with a state-of-the-art statistical syndicator and distributor such as STATS to optimize how we serve our fans,” said Kenny Gersh, Senior Vice President, Business Development, MLBAM.

STATS Executive Vice President Steve Byrd added: “Those familiar with the history of STATS understand baseball has been an integral part of our heritage. Therefore, it’s particularly gratifying to announce this new relationship with MLB Advanced Media. STATS looks forward to disseminating the baseball experience through our global network of partners and this strong alliance for years to come.”

STATS is jointly-owned by the Associated Press and News Corporation.
