A busy February sports calendar and sluggish economy are keeping ticket prices down, Reuters reports. Secondary ticketing websites are reporting soaring volume.
“2008 was an extraordinary high water mark for prices for these events and then in 2009 things came down considerably and that downward pressure remains on price pretty much across the board,” said Brendan Ross chief executive at secondary ticket seller RazorGator.com.
Tickets for the Super Bowl are still up 10-per-cent in price, selling at around $2,500, according to Mike Janes of ticket search engine FanSnap.
The average Super Bowl ticket price on market leading website StubHub, owned by Ebay, was up slightly at $2,600. Super Bowl ticket sales volume on the website is expected to be up 40 per cent.
