Super Bowl ads exceed 2009 prices

Super Bowl broadcaster CBS Corp has sold all its television advertising around the season-finale match, with the top spots going for more than $3 million.

CBS said the highest-priced ads would exceed the top prices paid last year, when the Super Bowl was broadcast on rival free-to-air network NBC, according to a report by Bloomberg. General Electric-owned NBC generated a record $206 million in ad sales around last year’s match.

The Super Bowl takes place this Sunday, between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts. Bloomberg reports that CBS said the match could attract 100 million US television viewers. Last year’s match, between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals, drew 95.4 million.
