Man City chief executive future “in doubt”

Garry Cook’s position as chief executive of Manchester City is being “seriously considered” by the Premier League club’s Abu Dhabi owners, according to UK press reports.

According to the Guardian, the owners are becoming increasingly agitated by his leadership style and bad publicity he has attracted and will look to oust the former Nike executive at the end of the season.

Cook has made a series of personal embarrassments including in the build-up to the second leg of the Carling Cup semi-final against Manchester United when he was filmed telling supporters in New York's Mad Hatter Saloon that City will become the “biggest and the best” football club on the planet, and would get to Wembley "not if, but when, we beat United again".

Cook was paid £1.5 million last year and has admitted being brought to tears during parts of his 20-month tenure in the job.

Cook’s Wikipedia page has repeatedly been targeted by hackers, including yesterday when Cook was branded a time-traveler who regularly plays golf with Bananaman, personally spearheaded a bid for Pélé, before inventing the colour yellow.
