Sony replaces LG in German football

Japanese electronic company Sony has replaced Korean counterpart LG Electronics as a premium sponsor of the German Football Association from 2010 to 2012.

Under the three-year deal, Sony will use players of the German men’s national team for advertising campaigns and place the Sony logo in key billboards. Sony is also permitted to use archive DFB and national team videos on its online platform and offer tickets to German home games in exclusive customer promotion.

Soft-drinks manufacturer Coca-Cola, Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Home, German brewery Bitburger and Germany's second largest bank Commerzbank are the other big sponsors of the DFB.

Sony also sponsors the UEFA Champions League and FIFA, world football’s governing body.
