“Young and visionary” new leader for SAFA

The South African Football Association has hired lawyer Leslie Sedibe as CEO, after Raymond Hack left the post on Wednesday.

Bloomberg reports that SAFA described 36-year-old Sedibe as a “young and visionary” leader.

Sedibe told a press conference: “I am under no illusions; I have my work cut out and I will rise to the task.” Sedibe will lead SAFA through the World Cup period, when South Africa becomes the first African nation to host the event.

SAFA is declining to say whether Hack was fired or resigned. Sedibe takes the post on a one-year contract, after which former chief executive Danny Jordaan is thought to be possibly coming back into the role.
