NBA launches Indian new media drive

US basketball league the NBA (National Basketball Association) has launched a new range of internet and mobile content designed specifically for the Indian market.

NBA is making available live matches, video highlights, player blogs, and columns from two India-based NBA journalists on new internet and mobile internet websites. A live match will be broadcast every Thursday morning on the website. The site will also feature blogs from NBA stars Baron Davis (LA Clippers) and Steve Nash (Phoenix Suns).

The websites are being launched in partnership with NBA's local marketing partners HP and Reebok.

The new websites received words of support from the Basketball Federation of India (BFI). “There is a great appetite for basketball across India and the sites will offer Indian fans the opportunity to learn more about the NBA and basketball in India,” said Harish Sharma, Secretary General, BFI. “Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in India and this exciting launch will help to continue to grow this great game.”
