HRH Prince Feisal was one of six new members proposed by the IOC’s Executive Board during its Lausanne meeting this week.
The prince, elected president of the JOC in 2003, was invited to become a member of the IOC Women and Sport Commission in 2007 and hosted the IOC World Conference on Women and Sport in 2008.
His Generations For Peace initiative, since its inception in 2007, has seen hundreds of youth leaders from 31 countries trained and around 40,000 youngsters embracing previous adversaries through sport.
There are currently 112 IOC members but four are set to retire by the end of the year. The proposed six new additions would take the total membership to 114.
A final vote on the proposed members will be taken by the IOC General Assembly next February in Vancouver.
