World Cup 2010 mobile rights sold in Australia

Australian mobile phone operator Optus Australia has acquired live mobile rights for all 64 matches of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The deal also includes other World Cup related content, including video alerts during matches and news features.

“This deal offers mobile users the very highest quality match broadcasts tailor-made for mobiles,” said Niclas Ericson, Director of FIFA’s TV Division. “It will give them blanket coverage from morning to night with the whole gamut of FIFA World Cup-related content such as team-specific reports, updates, downloads, clips.”
