Agency hired to review commercial potential of women’s sport

The Havas Sports & Entertainment agency has been appointed by the UK’s Commission on the Future of Women’s Sport to review the commercial potential in women’s sport.

Havas Sports & Entertainment’s research division Havas Insight will carry out the review. The company won a competitive tender for the contract.

The Commission on the Future of Women’s Sport is a body of athletes, academics, administrators and broadcasters which is aiming to grow the commercial strength of women’s sport in the UK.
The Chair of the Commission, British women’s paralympic athlete Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, said: “Women’s sport is a great untapped opportunity in the sports marketplace.  When it is packaged and promoted properly, the evidence demonstrates there is great interest – amongst both women and men – in women’s sport.  We have started a process to identify just how large the commercial potential is, and how this can be realised. Our work with Havas will complete this review and be of real importance helping to guide the strategic commercial direction for women’s sport.”
Members of the Commission the Future of Women’s Sport will be appearing at SportBusiness Group’s Women and Sport Conference, taking place November 27 at the CBI Conference Centre in London.
