MP & Silva to distribute ‘Kill the Referee’

The MP & Silva sports media agency has agreed a deal to exclusively distribute in Italy, the Middle East and Oceania, and non-exclusively in Asia, UEFA’s documentary film about the experiences of the refereeing team at Euro 2008.

The 77-minute film is titled Les Arbitres – and in English, Kill the Referee – and is a behind-the-scenes documentary which shows how the referees coped with the pressure of refereeing at Euro 2008. It was shot by Belgian director Yves Hinant.

“Les Arbitres shows football refereeing in an unprecedented light, using live audio recordings between the match referees to provide amazing insights into the difficulties and tensions they encountered,” said Philippe Margraff, Commercial Director of UEFA.

“Since its successful world premiere at the Locarno International Film Festival, it has received unanimous support from critics and touched the hearts of many by showing the personal journeys of the referees.”

MP & Silva has acquired the rights to distribute the film across all transmission platforms, including public viewing, closed circuit, and in cinema theatres.
