US court approves NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes purchase

The NHL will buy the Phoenix Coyotes team, which plays in its league, after the sale was approved by the US Bankruptcy Court.

The International Herald Tribune reports that the NHL is paying around $140 million for the franchise.

The NHL will look for a new owner for the team, which the league’s deputy commissioner Bill Daly said would have to try to keep the team in Glendale, Arizona, where they currently play. If this is not possible, the NHL will then look to relocate the franchise.
