India cricket sponsorship on market

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yesterday opened the bidding process for sponsorship rights for India’s four national cricket teams, including the men’s senior team.

The Press Trust of India (PTI) reports that the men’s senior team’s existing Rs3.13 billion, four-year sponsorship deal with Indian conglomerate Sahara India Pariwar finishes in March 2010. The BCCI is looking for a minimum of Rs4 billion over the following four years, according to a report on the livemint.com website.

The other sponsorships on offer are for the India A team, the men’s Under-19 team and the women’s team.

The BCCI is selling the bid documents for a non-refundable fee of Rs5 lakh. The deadline for bids is November 24, and bid documents will be opened at the BCCI office the next day.
