The partners will create tests which will measure sports ability, mental attitude, nutrition, communications ability and other aptitudes in athletes from a range of sports, allowing comparison between sportspeople from different disciplines. Under Armour will work with IMG Performance and IMG Academies on the initiative.
The initiative will begin in the UK in early 2010 with sessions – called ‘combines’ – staffed by IMG and Under Armour personnel, at which the tests of athletes will begin.
The initiative was promoted in London on October 24, in conjunction with the NFL game taking place at Wembley, with a grassroots combine at Finsbury Park Stadium for American football, football and rugby players aged 8 to 18.
Under Armour and IMG Performance hosted a special grassroots combine for dedicated football, soccer and rugby players (ages 8-18) on October 24th at London's Finsbury Park Stadium in conjunction with the NFL game in London between the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Over 250 talented athletes participated in this first-ever program.
