Euro PGA Tour adds two tournaments, drops three

The European PGA Tour has added two African tournaments to its 2010 schedule, but dropped two Asian and one Australian event from this year.

Reuters reports that the Africa Open in South Africa and the Hassan 11 Golf Trophy in Morocco were added to the schedule, while the Johnnie Walker Classic in Australia, the Malaysian Open and the Indonesian Open were dropped. The three events left out were worth over $4 million in prize money this year.

The Tour also confirmed on Monday that the Race to Dubai, its money list bonus competition, will take place again next season. The Race to Dubai was taken over by Nakheel Leisure after the original operator Leisurecorp pulled out due to the recession.

Questions were raised about the Race to Dubai's future earlier this year before the organiser, Leisurecorp, a division of Nakheel Leisure, negotiated a $5 million reduction in the prize fund.

The 2010 season starts in December 2009.
