Blatter praises Russian government commitment to World Cup bid

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and FIFA President Joseph (Sepp) Blatter discussed Russia’s bid to host the 2018 or 2022 World Cup during a meeting in Moscow on Friday.

Blatter commended Putin’s signing of an executive order making the Russian bid an official government priority.

“I think that if you continue with the same verve and the same attitude, then your chances are good,” said Blatter.

During a lunch in Moscow, Russia’s Sports Minister and Russian Football Union President Vitaly Mutko told the FIFA president of the bid details.
