The deal marks the end of a 26-year relationship between the international federation and the European Broadcasting Union on the sale of the rights.
IEC will immediately begin selling the rights for the 2010 World Indoor Championships at Doha, Qatar.
In a press release, the IAAF said “The EBU has been a valued partner of the IAAF in Europe and Africa since the first edition of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in 1983, offering a quality broadcasting service through its members. The IAAF is very grateful to the EBU for the role it has played in the development of Athletics since that time.”
