Mike Fennell, CGF president said that personnel with experience in hosting major sports events needed to be hired, especially in the areas of management, planning and operational roles including transportation, technology, ticketing and logistics.
He wrote to the organisers last month expressing concern at the reluctance to hire overseas expertise and the slow progress of preparations, and asking for a meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to “revive” the Games.
“The challenges now facing the Games are enormous,” he said in a statement ahead of the CGF general assembly to be held in New Delhi from October 8. “We still have a year to go, and it is possible to deliver a successful Games. However, to achieve this there will have to be a renewed focus by management across the operations of the organising committee.”
