The IPL season 2 in April was moved after concerns over security in India and because of a clash of dates with the country’s general elections. All IPL franchises submitted their bills for extra expenses as before the beginning of the tournament, the governing council had agreed to recompense the franchises as a result of this shift.
“At our meeting on 23 March, the IPL Governing Council had made the commitment that incremental expenses incurred would be reimbursed after we provided documentation on claims,” a team franchise top executive told www.indiantelevision.com. “We have done that. Manohar is incorrect in saying that expenses will not be settled as nobody has made a loss. We are now waiting for the IPL Governing Council to get back to us.”
IPL CEO Sunder Raman added: “We will sit down and decide on the matter keeping in mind the interests of our franchises.”
It is also believed that issues such as loss of income from ticket sales have to still be resolved by the BCCI.
