Reuters reports that Pyeongchang follows Munich, Germany and Annecy, France in entering bids to host the event, with several other cities considering bids. The closing date for applications is October 15.
Pyeongchang previously unsuccessfully bid to host the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics.
“It is an honour to submit the application to the International Olympic Committee in support of the South Korean government and the KOC,” the bidding committee said in a statement, reported by Korea’s Yonhap News.
