LPGA Tour loses Kingsmill event

Brewer Anheuser-Busch announced it is not renewing its sponsorship of the LPGA’s Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill after seven years.

The International Herald Tribune reports that the news spells the end for the event, which has been supported by the Michelob beer brand for seven years.

Anheuser-Busch vice president Dan McHugh said the company would continue to work with the LPGA but planned to spread its sponsorships over a wider range of professional golf events.

It is the seventh LPGA tournament to suffer a sponsor withdrawal since 2007.
