"We will hit the ground running and the Games will be fully bilingual," minister for Canadian Heritage and Official Languages James Moore said. "We want it to be a seamless bilingual experience for Canadians in the official language of their choice."
According to The Associated Press Moore's comments came following a new report released by Official Languages commissioner Graham Fraser, updating progress in efforts to ensure the Games are bilingual. In the report Fraser noted that there are still major shortcomings in the Games, including below-par services at airports in Toronto and Vancouver.
Moore says the funding will support translation services, bilingualism at medal ceremonies and ensure permanent bilingual signs at venues.
