TV share for US Open Men’s Final up 41%

Television ratings for tennis’ US Open men’s final increased 41 per cent on last year as Juan Martin del Potro beat five-time champion Roger Federer on US television network CBS.

The final at the National Tennis Center in New York was competed on a Monday due to rain in the New York area last weekend.

According to Bloomberg, the five set game was shown from 16.00 to 20.41 local time and drew an average share of 2.4 per cent, compared with 1.7 per cent when Federer defeated Andy Murray in 2008.

Argentina’s del Potro ended Federer’s 40-match US Open win streak to claim his first major title, winning 3- 6, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.
