Sale of AC Milan to Libyan funds denied

Fininvest, the company which owns AC Milan, has denied an Italian newspaper report that company owner, the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, is considering selling the club to Libyan sovereign funds.

Reuters reports that the La Repubblica newspaper carried a story that Berlusconi had discussed a sale of AC Milan with Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. The report said that Berlusconi had discussed selling the club in phases to Libyan sovereign funds in a deal worth between €600 and €800 million.

“There are no plans to sell a stake in AC Milan,” said Fininvest in statement.
