Cal South is the official youth and adult state soccer association of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer representing 230 member leagues and clubs.
In addition to organising the State and National Cup - the two largest and most prestigious youth soccer tournaments in Southern California - Cal South is engaged in several grassroots initiatives throughout Los Angeles and runs the annual Soccer Nation Expo, the largest free soccer family expo in the United States, held each year at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
“We want to thank Cal South for affirming their early support of the USA Bid,” said Sunil Gulati, chairman of the USA Bid Committee and US Soccer president. “Our bid is an investment, in every sense of the word, to pave the road for the next decade of the development of soccer in the United States. Cal South's support further exemplifies the leadership role that this organization has taken in all areas of promoting and developing the sport in the United States.”
Gregg Falk, Cal South president, added: “We believe that this is an investment in the future of soccer in Southern California and the United States that can be best achieved by bringing the excitement, worldwide attention, and pride that comes with hosting the games.”
The donation from Cal South is the largest received by the USA Bid Committee to date after last week’s launch of goUSAbid.com. FIFA’s announcement of the 2018 and 2022 World Cup host countries will take place in December 2010.
