Ten Sports sets advertising target for tri-series

Taj Television-owned Indian broadcaster Ten Sports is targeting advertising revenue of Rs 300 million (£7.7 million) from the cricket tri-series involving India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand that begins on September 8 in Colombo.

Ten has already signed computer company Compaq as title and co-presenting sponsor and car manufacturer Maruti as an associate sponsor. Spots have also been taken by several other companies including Sony Electronics and biscuit-manufacturer Unibisc.

"Spots are going for Rs 250,000 (£3,000) per 10 seconds for the four-match series," said Taj Television India general manager Rukin Kizilbash. He added that 50 per cent of the advertising has already been sold.

Ten plans to acquire five more associate sponsors and is believed to be in separate talks with a telecoms and cola company for the position. According Kizilbash Ten is also on the verge of signing a motorcycle manufacturer as a co-presenting sponsor.
