Asian Games accepting private cash contributions

The 16th Asian Games, held in the Chinese city of Guangzhou in November 2010, will begin accepting individual or corporate in-kind or cash contributions starting today through to 31 December next year.

By making personal and business contributions, the public will be able to directly get involved in and support the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games and the Organising Committee (GAGOC) hopes more people at home and internationally will become defacto “participants” in the Games.

All contributions need to be complimentary for public welfare and not for benefit through commercial activities.

The account number and information needed to make public contributions will be announced on the Games' official website and official magazine.

The Asian Games is the second largest sports event in the world after the Olympic Games, comprising half the world's population.
