Franz Beckenbauer revealed for Soccerex 09

Football business event Soccerex has announced Franz Beckenbauer will take part in year’s conference programme from 30 November to 2 December in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Beckenbauer will be one of the many world-renowned speakers taking part at this year's event, sharing his unrivalled knowledge of the football industry with Soccerex delegates.

During his playing career Beckenbauer – nicknamed the ‘Kaiser’ of German football - won over 100 international caps and played 396 games for German league side Bayern Munich. After retiring he coached Germany to the runners-up position in the 1986 FIFA World Cup and to victory in the 1990 tournament. In two short spells as Bayern coach, he won the 1994 Bundesliga title and the 1996 UEFA Cup.

Since 1994, Beckenbauer has been Bayern Munich president and is currently the chairman of the Supervisory Board. He also holds a senior position at the DFB and received universal acclaim for his role as president of the Local Organising Committee for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
