New Formula One Concorde Agreement landed

The Federation Interationale d’Automobile and the twelve Formula One teams have signed a new ‘Concorde Agreement’, securing the future of the motor-racing series until 2012 at least.

The document sets the commercial terms on which the teams and organisers work, including how the revenue from the series is distributed.

Reuters reports that the new deal includes a “resource restriction agreement” designed to reduce the cost of running a team to the level seen in the early 1990s.

New teams for next season, including US F1, Campos Meta and Manor Grand Prix, have signed the agreement.

The deal puts to bed many concerns about the future of the series, after weeks of disagreement between the top teams and the governing body that seemed to threaten the existence of the sport.
