Cricket’s new Champions League Twenty20 tournament has signed telecommunications company Airtel as title sponsor in a new five-year deal.
The deal was struck between Airtel and broadcaster ESPN Star Sports, which is a commercial partner of the tournament, and begins with the inaugural 2009 season. Airtel branding will appear at the three grounds in India hosting the matches, at Bangalore, New Delhi and Hyderabad.
The first tournament begins October 8 this year, and features 12 top teams from the club cricket Twenty20 competitions in India (the Indian Premier League), Australia, South Africa, England, West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. They will play 23 matches in total over 16 days, competing for $6 million in prize money.
