ISC, the promoter of the World Rally Championship, has secured the position of Rally Finland on the calendar for five years in the first of a raft of new deals designed to strengthen the series.
The top rally events have rotated in and out of the WRC calendar in the past, but ISC plans to sign the top rallies up in long-term deals, extending their presence on the calendar. The Rally Finland deal is ISC’s first as promoter of the series, a role it won the contract for in January.
In a press release, ISC said the new deal said it reflected the “high quality, heritage and marketing strength of Rally Finland”. The 2009 Rally Finland began last night, and will feature as a driver Finnish Formula One star Kimi Raikkonnen.
