The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has named Ticketmaster as a third tier sponsor to handle ticketing services for London 2012.

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has named Ticketmaster as a third tier sponsor to handle ticketing services for London 2012.

As the ‘Official Ticketing Services Provider’ for the Games Ticketmaster will work on the ticketing strategy, planning and the set-up of the ticket sales process. Over nine million tickets will be on sale for both the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 2011.

LOCOG commercial director Chris Townsend said the appointment is “crucial” to managing the demand for tickets and for the London Games to “deliver a first class customer service”.

Chris Edmonds, managing director of Ticketmaster UK, added: "Ticketmaster UK is immensely proud to have been selected as the official ticketing partner for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. After a comprehensive bidding process this achievement is a hugely exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our employees to work on an Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in their home country.”

Ticketmaster has previously worked on delivering ticketing for previous Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as the Commonwealth Games, Rugby World Cup and the ICC World Twenty20 cricket competition.
