UEFA rights awarded in the Balkans

UEFA announced yesterday that it has concluded the sale of Champions League and Europa League media rights in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2009-10 to 2011-12.

UEFA announced yesterday that it has concluded the sale of Champions League and Europa League media rights in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2009-10 to 2011-12.

The Champions League first-choice live matches on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays were awarded to free-to-air broadcasters RTS in Serbia, IN TV in Montenegro and BHRT in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The deals also include highlights on both nights and the weekly Champions League magazine programme.

For the Europa League, free-to-air broadcasters B92 (Serbian), OBN TV (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and RTCG (Montenegro) were awarded the first choice match in each matchweek as well as the second choice match up to the quarter-final stage of the competition. All three broadcasters will also show a highlights programme each matchweek.

UEFA also concluded deals for both competitions across the three countries with new pan-regional pay-broadcaster Arena TV. Arena will show the remaining live match rights and highlights on each matchday on its Arena Sport channels.

“UEFA is very pleased to confirm these media rights deals which guarantee excellent exposure for both competitions via a combination of experienced free-to-air broadcasters and a new pay broadcaster entrant in the form of Arena TV. These deals will deliver a significantly greater level and choice of programming to fans of UEFA’s European club football competitions throughout the region,” said an official UEFA statement.

The Champions League and Europa League final and the Super Cup will be broadcast simultaneously by UEFA’s free-to-air and pay partners. Fans in each country will also be able to access all the action from these competitions via the internet and on mobile.

All deals were brokered by the TEAM Marketing agency, the official marketing agent of UEFA.
